L Thungbeni Murry

Thungbeni Murry is a development professional with specialization in Social Work and Management, specializing in large-scale community mobilization across Nagaland and Gujarat. 

She has successfully empowered over 3,350 women through Self-Help Groups and collaborated with 4,000 farmers to implement sustainable agricultural practices. Her work focuses on building resilient tribal communities by integrating livelihood generation with environmental stewardship and enterprise development.

As an NYCC Climate Champion from Wokha, Nagaland, Thungbeni has pioneered practical waste management systems by engaging students, village councils, and teachers in circular economy practices. Through initiatives like the Waste Management Challenge and e-waste sessions with the Karo Sambhav Foundation which mobilized 250+ youth, she transformed local disposal habits into sustainable resource loops. Her approach combines community-driven segregation with youth competitions, fostering a long-term culture of environmental responsibility in conflict-sensitive and rural regions.

She now works as a State Consultant with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), supporting disaster management and recovery initiatives for the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
