Naveen Kumar is a climate advocate and community leader working with LGBTQIA+ and marginalized communities in Jharkhand. His work brings together climate action, health, and social inclusion, with a focus on grassroots change.
He is actively working across East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, and West Singhbhum, engaging communities in both rural and urban areas. Naveen has established youth-led Climate Action Committees at the Panchayat level, mobilizing communities across 30 slums and villages to promote climate resilience.
In villages like Kedo, Napitdih, and Kitadih, he has translated awareness into action by training women farmers in organic farming and supporting kitchen gardens in government schools, producing over 80 kilograms of vegetables across 20+ varieties during his tenure as an NYCC Climate Champion from Jharkhand.
Naveen is also the co-founder of Jamshedpur Queer Circle (JQC), where he works to improve access to healthcare and government entitlements for transgender and LGBTQIA+ communities. His work includes HIV testing, treatment linkage, and support in accessing identity documents and social schemes.
Through his initiatives, Naveen has directly reached over 3,000 beneficiaries, including youth, women farmers, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. He continues to strengthen community-led solutions for sustainable and inclusive development.
