Nidhi Chauhan

Nidhi is a dedicated grassroots organizer and youth activist working at the intersection of labor rights and climate justice, focusing on migrant women, waste workers, and construction laborers. Through her advocacy for inclusive Heat Action Plans such as cooling spaces and access to water she addresses the growing impact of extreme heat on vulnerable workers as the climate crisis intensifies.

Her leadership bridges policy discussions and lived realities, having engaged and mobilized over 5,000 women to push for a just transition that recognizes informal workers as essential climate actors. In 2024, Nidhi represented India as a UNICEF Youth Leader at the Girls Go Green Summit in Bangkok, where she collaborated with young women across South Asia to co-create inclusive, youth-led solutions for climate action, sustainability, and gender-responsive environmental leadership.

As an NYCC Climate Champion from Delhi, Nidhi has led youth and community-driven climate initiatives, mobilizing marginalized groups through workshops, plantation drives and public art that builds grassroots climate leadership. She also co-organized the Youth Climate Dialogue in Delhi, engaging 150+ participants in advancing youth-led solutions on key climate challenges.

Currently, Nidhi works as a Project Associate at the Child Mental Health Foundation, where she focuses on advancing community mental health at the intersection of climate change. Her work includes building partnerships, designing programs, and advocating for evidence-based, community-driven approaches that address the mental health impacts of the climate crisis, with a focus on children and youth, including those with ADHD and Autism.
