Reeya Detroja is a purpose-driven leader working at the intersection of social justice, gender equality, and climate action. With a strong foundation in the non-profit sector, she focuses on building community-led, policy-driven solutions for long-term environmental resilience.
During her work on ground, she has mobilized over 25,000 citizens through large-scale climate initiatives, diverting more than 2,000 kg of waste from landfills. Through the Aapdu Collective, she integrated dignified livelihoods for waste workers into public events while advancing environmental awareness.
Her NYCC initiatives include a city marathon reaching 7,000+ people, university engagements, and environmental education for over 400 students in government schools. By collaborating with municipal corporations, universities, and youth leaders, she has built a growing movement for sustainable urban living, turning awareness into action and embedding climate consciousness into everyday practices.
She is currently writing “The Cycle and The City: Story of Ahmedabad”, documenting lived voices of everyday cyclists, investigating urban mobility through the lens of sarkar, samaaj and bazaar, at INHAF Habitat Forum. In the time in between, she farms with her community through permaculture thinking, watches birds, and goes camping in nature. She is in pursuit to bring mindfulness into everything she weaves–whether it is research, writing, organising, building, activism or simply living.
