Stanzin Dothon is an indigenous environmental leader from Leh, Ladakh, working at the intersection of climate action, cultural preservation, and youth leadership. As the founder of the United Youth Group, he has led grassroots efforts in waste management and community resilience while amplifying Ladakhi youth voices in national climate conversations.
Through initiatives like the Local Youth Climate Convening under NYCC, Stanzin has mobilized young people to explore the intersections of climate change, gender, and heritage, combining dialogue with experiential learning rooted in mountain ecosystems. His collaborations with researchers assess climate awareness and readiness among local youth, grounding action in evidence.
As he prepares to release his research findings, Stanzin aims to expand this work across Ladakh by building a trained youth research network and presenting insights to government and climate institutions to inform youth-focused programmes. Currently a YPAT Fellow, he is also leading a digital campaign, *Knowing My Place, Knowing My People*, strengthening digital literacy and interdisciplinary engagement among youth.
Blending traditional Himalayan knowledge with modern climate approaches, he is building a youth-led, culturally rooted model for a carbon-neutral Ladakh, with NYCC as a key platform to scale this vision.
