Lakshay Behal

Lakshay Behal, a BCA student from Jalandhar, is a committed youth changemaker driving urban environmental action. A Solve Ninja, Swachhata Saathi, and NSS volunteer, he is also a Tale of Humankind Changemaker Awardee 2025 and an active member of the Jalandhar Core Team with Reap Benefit Foundation. His journey reflects a strong focus on civic responsibility, youth leadership, and sustainable city-building.

As part of the NYCC Climate Champions Fellowship, Lakshay led Beautify the Garbage Spots: From Waste to Wonder, transforming long-standing dumping zones into clean, usable public spaces. Mobilising 228 young people and engaging over 715 community members, he worked closely with municipal authorities, sanitation workers, and local institutions to address root causes of waste dumping. A key success included eliminating a five-year-old garbage hotspot through infrastructure improvements and community ownership.

Through his work, Lakshay continues to champion youth-led, community-driven solutions for waste management, strengthening partnerships between citizens and local governments to build cleaner, more sustainable urban ecosystems.
