Nanalal, a proud member of the Girasia community from Sulaav village in Udaipur, is a grassroots changemaker working at the intersection of education, livelihoods, and environmental restoration. He currently serves as a Field Coordinator, continuing to strengthen grassroots education and youth engagement.

Under NYCC, he led the initiative to transform invasive lantana into a green skilling and sustainable livelihood opportunity. With Lantana training for 100+ women and young people in crafting baskets, furniture, and household items from lantana, the initiative not only restored local ecosystems but also built community-owned income streams, with women groups continuing to make products beyond the fellowship.

Nanalal has since enabled sales worth over ₹35,000 as of April 2026, with earnings going directly to women artisans who also set product prices. With the support of community members, they have formed Sulav Lantana Samiti which is women led, developed a product lookbook, set up local stalls, and is now preparing to register and scale the initiative, while continuing his work with Ujaala Foundation. He has been awarded the UML Environment Award 2026 for his efforts towards the intersection of ecological restoration and local, sustainable livelihood.
