Nikhil Srikar Karthik

Nikhil Srikar Karthik, a Political Science postgraduate from Pondicherry University, is a coastal researcher from Andhra Pradesh focused on the Blue Economy and sustainable livelihoods. His experience as a Research Assistant at the French Institute of Pondicherry, where he worked on shrimp aquaculture value chains and coastal policy, grounds his work in strong field-based and policy research.

He led a community-driven climate documentation initiative in Uppada and nearby coastal villages of Kakinada district, addressing the lived impacts of coastal erosion on artisan fishing communities, during his work as an NYCC Climate Champion. Using participatory tools like social mapping and transect walks, he enabled coastal communities, especially artisan fishers to document erosion risks and livelihood challenges, bridging local knowledge with institutional climate planning.

He is currently working as an Assistant Professor at The Oxford College of Law in Bengaluru, where he coordinates the Sahyadri Committee, working at the crossroads of law and the environment.
