Anubhab Sil

Anubhab is a fisheries science student at the College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, deeply committed to climate-resilient fisheries and community-centered adaptation. His work focuses on inland water systems and their vulnerability to climate change, with a particular emphasis on how fishing communities, especially in Northeast India, can build adaptive capacity. Anubhab bridges academic research and grassroots climate action, believing that meaningful adaptation must be rooted in community agency. 

Through his project NIRMAJAL, he’s designing participatory water body regeneration initiatives that combine citizen science with local ecological knowledge. Anubhab aims to develop a "Participatory Climate Governance Model for Small-Scale Fisheries." This includes Climate Literacy Workshops for fish farmers, enabling Citizen Data Collection (temperature, water quality), and translating these insights into a community-driven policy brief for adaptive governance. He aspires to shape a blue economy and water governance policy that centers livelihood security for India’s inland fisheries sector.
