Avanish Kumar

Avanish is a multimedia journalist and researcher committed to documenting grassroots issues through evidence-based storytelling. His work spans field reporting, research, and documentation on human rights, social justice, rural development, livelihoods, and environmental issues. As a Multimedia Producer at The Quint, he reports on social issues including education, public health, labour, climate change, and the environment. He has also served as a trainer with FactShala, supporting media literacy and responsible journalism. Passionate about understanding the intersection of communities and climate change, Avneesh believes that local knowledge and lived experiences are essential to shaping effective and inclusive climate solutions.

During his NYCC project, Avanish will work on documentation of issues related to wetlands and water sources in and around Noida to better understand and highlight local climate challenges. Through community surveys, interviews, and field research, he aims to develop an evidence-based research report that can foster informed dialogue between communities and local authorities, supporting more effective and sustainable environmental action.
