Marina Dai

Marina is a freelance journalist from Arunachal Pradesh, passionate about documenting the intersection of climate change, Indigenous knowledge, and environmental justice across Northeast India. Through her reporting, she aims to amplify the voices of communities whose experiences are often overlooked and highlight how climate change is reshaping lives, cultures, and ecosystems. She has previously worked as a Correspondent with Northeast Live and has contributed to publications including  Down To Earth, EastMojo, and Arunachal Times. She is a recipient of the V. Ravindran Excellence in Journalism Award (2025) and have also been part of several journalism fellowships, including the AIIP-EastMojo Fellowship, the Impulse Model Press Lab Fellowship, and the Climate Change Media Hub Programme at the Asian College of Journalism. She believes storytelling can bridge communities, science, and policy, inspiring informed conversations and meaningful climate action.

At NYCC, Marina's project, “Climate in Our Own Words” focuses on community documentation in Adi Pasi Sibuk, upper siang district Arunachal Pradesh. Through the project ,Marina will work alongside community members to document Indigenous environmental knowledge and stories about the forest, its cultural significance, and the environmental changes witnessed over time. Community members will also be introduced to storytelling techniques, enabling them to document and share their own experiences. Together, these contributions will form a community research archive, co-created by the community and showcased their environmental and cultural heritage with the aim of serving as a lasting resource that can continue to grow beyond the project.
