Naw J Jacquelyn

Naw J Jacquelyn is a Karen islander from Webi, Middle Andaman, and a conservation practitioner working at the intersection of community engagement, policy, and environmental stewardship. Specialised in psychology and currently serving as Human Resource and Policy Manager at Andamans Conservancy Foundation, she works to create spaces where local knowledge, cultural values, and conservation practice can meaningfully intersect. Her work spans youth engagement, community outreach, climate and mental health discussions, and grassroots conservation initiatives.

Jacquelyn, with her NYCC Project,  "THEEKLO: A Community-Led Watershed Management Initiative", plans to restore a degraded stream in her village. She will bring together youth and elders to document watershed changes, encourage responsible waste management, and strengthen local stewardship through participatory conservation. She is focusing on documenting oral histories, freshwater biodiversity, and community dependence on a culturally significant stream that has sustained generations of Karen families, with the aim of supporting long-term watershed conservation and community resilience.
