Vanlal Hlupuii

Vanlalhlupuii is a research scholar from Mizoram and a Senior Research Fellow at Mizoram University whose work focuses on sustainable development, household consumption behaviour and environmental policy. Her research explores how everyday choices, such as energy use, food, and waste practices, shape environmental outcomes, and how evidence‑based policies can encourage more sustainable lifestyles.  She is passionate about promoting responsible consumption, climate action and community engagement through research and knowledge sharing, and is especially interested in youth leadership and capacity building. Vanlalhlupuii seeks to bridge academic research with practical solutions that benefit communities, particularly in hilly and rural contexts.

Vanlal proposes a community-led eco-village pilot in Sailutar to tackle local climate challenges with his NYCC Project, Sailutar Eco Village Pilot Project. The project aims to mobilize youth and SHGs to upgrade their existing solar initiatives, implement household waste segregation and composting, and establish a monitoring "Eco-Village Committee”. Her aim is to promote practical, locally relevant climate solutions in Mizoram while building partnerships that strengthen environmental awareness and encourage responsible, long‑term action.
